We are looking into the possibility of getting the Cowtown show to sell on our site. We'll see.

Cheers,

Sorry we missed you Greg. When we walked in all the tables down front had Reserved tags on them, all except 1 little table front and center, no tag on it so we grabbed it. Worked out great until the band came on the stage and everyone stood up front! It was a fun night.

Jill--didn't see your post til now--I rented the top of the caboose--had perfect seats to a fun show--with about 20 other long time fans--it was a fun night--not as fun as Wildwood 1 or 2--but still a great time

Randle and Jaynie, You made our July 4th Reunion Concert something that people will be talking about for some time to come. You two are a class act! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your flexibility in joining in with with the Band on some of their songs and allowing them to join you on yours! We need to get Larry to join us next year!

You guys ROCK!

I was fortunate enough to plan my business trip down to the Springfield area, and was able to catch most of Randle's gig at the Brighton Creek Bar and Grill on Friday night. What a fun, fun show! Was able to hang out with Jaynie, Jeff and Michelle Swofford and really had an enjoyable time! Randle played all of the old favorites and some that I haven't heard him do before....covers....like After Midnight....I really enjoyed your guitar work on this one, Randle!!! Rock On!!!

Beyond Reach will be performing a short set of songs during a special benefit concert for the Ozarks Celebration Festival at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts on the campus of Missouri State University at 8:00PM on Friday the 24th of September.

http://ocf.missouristate.edu/

Tickets are $15 each and $25 for Gold Circle Seating. The Gold Circle Seating price includes a reception with the performers following the concert.

This will be the festivals 13th year and we’ll be joining The Undergrass Boys that evening to help raise money so the festival can hopefully continue for years 14 and 15 and on. If you live in or around the Springfield area, we urge you to join us and support this wonderful festival.

Thanks so much to everybody, those that made it and those that didn't, who have kept checking into this website. Obviously we are off on a new adventure into acoustic music land. We do intend to be a working band. Given the right venues. We had a packed house of incredibly warm and enthusiastic folks of all ages. We're looking forward to the possibly of visiting some new places, making some new friends and playing our music in a new way for us. We welcome David Wilson and Ned Wilkinson and the wonderful music they bring. We are excited about everything and naturally we want to be recording.

Here was the actual set list and who the songs belong to:
1. Hey Hi - RC
2. Younger Years - LL
3. Leatherwood - RC
4. Within, Without - LL
5. Love and Learn - LL (vocal by Ned)
6. My Old Band - RC
7. You Don't Need It - LL
8. If You Wanna Get To Heaven - vocal RC
9. Jackie Blue - LL
10. Whippoorwill - RC
11. Moon on the Rise - LL
12. Ghost of Perryville - RC
13. Wasting Time - LL however 13 was skipped, not performed after all it was 13
14. Good Enough for Now - David Wilson
15. Mr. Powell - LL
16. encore Hey Boys - RC which is actually 15, but being lucky hillbillies, we skipped 13
This isn't exactly right. Don't know just what happened until I hear a rough recording of it.

Thanks again we will hopefully see ya next time, which may be this fall either if not someplace out of town before then. Randle

Super Concert, I agree with all! Had spent the days prior visiting my Mom who's in rehab and we stayed with my Sis in Lawrence KS. Trip wore me down but the concert picked me back up! Saw a few of the gang, Mark and Stan. They said they may do a fall concert too, if my hearing was on. I just loved the new arrangements of the old songs!

Stan Dixon

March 28, 2010

It was a fantastic show last night! Randle and Larry have done such a nice job bringing in the talent of Ned and David to complement their own. What a cool arrangement on Jackie Blue with Larry singing and playing the grand piano, and David playing the lead on the violin. Leatherwood, Whippoorwill, Mr Powell, and Within, Without were superb! The whole show was "sweet"! It was great to visit with Larry, Randle and Jaynie after the show.
Nice to see Mark A., Mike C., Jeff and Michelle S. too! We stopped at a couple of antique malls on the way home and just got home at 7 pm. It was a great weekend! Looking forward to more! Thanks Beyond Reach!

Just got home from Springfield. What a great show. Great performance and great sound in a nice venue. It was all awesome, but my faves were Whipporwill, Ghost of Perryville, Leatherwood, You don't Need it, Within Without, and Mr. Powell.

And it was really nice to see Mike C. and Stan D. and to visit with Randle, Larry and Jaynie.

Here's hoping for another show in the fall.

Hi to all,
Sorry I'm going to miss tonight's show. I'd really like to be there but we're heading out to the country to celebrate the life (and birhtday) of our friend Marilyn who passed in January. Thanks for all the concert updates guys!

Sounds like a great show. And so special and rare. That type of concert should be on VHI or some TV special as they are the best voices and song writers ever to take the stage! :-)

Sure hope we can see them again. Keep drinking that Homemade Wine.

Happy Easter everyone!

LL/RC

March 23, 2010

It’s hard for us to retain quality control in this day and age of everyone’s instant access to the world. I wish we could because we put a lot of work and care into what we do and to tell you the truth, that “work and care” hasn’t in the past always translate very well to YouTube.

But we have no desire to tell you what you can and cannot do either. We know there are some people who are not going to be able to make certain shows and we very much appreciate that they want to know about what it was they’ve missed and some would love a chance to see and hear what it was like. We don’t expect you to be the next Martin Scorsese, but please don’t post stuff on YouTube that is out of focus or the sound is distorted. That doesn’t help us in the long run.

As for the possible recordings that Jill asked about. Once again, if the quality is decent I’m sure we’d make it available to everyone, not just those in attendance.

And to those who are making the trip, have a safe drive and enjoy what the weatherman says is going to be a wonderful Spring day…

Update: now the weatherman says there's a good chance of rain... Oh well

LL/RC, thanks for sharing the information about the concert and of your future plans. I note that "Mr Powell" was the
was the last song. I´ll be.....A better ending is not just possible! Mr Powell has always been one of my favorite songs. Analyzing songs may not be a meaningful thing to do but please let me just say that listening to Mr Powell certainly "sets my mind in spinning" too. Something happens. The initial cembalo? takes us "just about a hundred years or so ago" and the time is set. The flowing guitar sounds like cool, clear water coming down. And the dancing mandolins are the stars, glittering and shining clear, way up high over the river. The flute is a boat, finally let loose on the Colorado, floating out with current, through the fog. And the choir og angels overlooking it all. These are my impressions of the song. I hope you did not mind me sharing it with you.

Randle Chowning

March 7, 2010

Without giving away too much information, we're working on an 18 song list right now. Seven are OMD songs, most of which we haven't performed in a long time. We're doing three songs from the Beyond Reach CD. There will be about eight things that are newer. Some of those have never been heard before. We may possibly make a live recording of the show available to those who attend. I can't promise that right now. For those of you who are planning on coming a considerable distance, we really appreciate it. We'll be hanging out for awhile after we are finished but I don't know how long they'll let us use the building. Randle

Barry Cobb (UK)

March 9, 2010

April 7, 2010

With fingers crossed LML website will go up online bright and early on 4/16. There are many cool features I’m working on to add to the site, but I think it’s getting to a place where there will be enough to look at to make it interesting for now.

Among some of the things the new site will have right away are short samples for you to hear of all the songs and music from both of my new CD’s ( “Twigs” and “Buds on Branches” ), even though you’ll not be able to purchase them just yet.

I’m in the process of finishing the artwork and once I have that in hand I’ll be sending both CD’s off the CDBaby for digital transfers and posting of MP3’s for downloads. They should be up on CDBaby by the end of the April.

CDBaby will also be furnishing audio files to places like iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic, etc., but because of the sheer number of artist these music service providers get thrown at them everyday, it could be weeks to months before this stuff is available everywhere. But CDBaby will have it up first and I’ll let everyone know once they’ve been posted.

I’ve been planning on releasing these CD’s as “download only” versions since it seems most people now like their music on iPods or other mobile devices. I for one don’t really like the sound of MP3’s all that much because of the file compression schemes and the lower bit rates involve. But they are a convenient way to store and listen to your music if you’re not an audiophile. And yes the ability to “pick and choose” individual tracks is a nice thing and something I do a lot myself on iTunes.

With all that being said, I’ve now also decided to have a very short run of regular CD’s pressed up and they too will also be available via CDBaby in the not too distant future. They’ll cost a bit more money than the "downloads" because of the extra expense involved, but they should sound better too. They’ll really be more for those who still have nice big home stereos and for those who don’t like ear-buds and also might not want to develop tinnitus.

I hope everyone here comes to visit me over at www.larrymichaellee.com from time to time. But please stay tuned here for future BR gigs and maybe even some new music from us too.

Its not "close" to campus, but I don't think its terribly far either. There are others in that same area but Jaynie can give you better info.

I used to get down to Paducah now and again when I was in graduate school in Carbondale Ill. Beautiful country.

Hi Randle, Hi Larry, as an old OMD fan of the first hour, let me say that your CD "Beyond Reach" is an absolutely wonderful album. Right now when I write these lines I hear it, and that's what I do over and over again since I bought it five years ago when it was released. Thank you very much for such a great album and all the best to both of you from a fan from Switzerland. By the way: I have covered the OMD track "It'll Shine When It Shines" in the 80's and sang it on one of my albums. Rockin' regards from Marcel

February 16, 2010

Tim, The drive from Paducah to Springfield is 5 hours. We don't ever go through St. Louis. Go from Paducah to Wickliffe, Kentucky, cross the Ohio and Mississippi rivers and go to Charleston, Missouri. Go toward Sikeston and Poplar Bluff. You will see the signs for Springfield, which is about 3 hours from Poplar Bluff. There is one turn off right after Poplar Bluff (you will exit right, then go across the highway). It will be 2 lane through some of that but it's not bad at all. You will go through Mountain View, Missouri, which is where Randle was born. Keep going toward Willow Springs and onto Springfield. Hope this helps!!! Jaynie P.S. If you have to go to St. Louis for some reason, it's about 4 hours from Springfield.

MikeNSL: Both CD’s have been compiled and mastered and are ready to go. Even though both will be available as “download only”, I still have to have cover artwork for CDBaby/iTunes etc. The artwork is in its final process of completion and I hope to have it in hand within the next few weeks. The website has kind of been on hold as I’ve wanted to tie it’s design to the artwork I mentioned above. I’m heading out to CA for a couple of weeks and when I get back I have this BR gig to get ready for. All in all, it will probably still be a few months before these CD’s/downloads will be available and the website will be up. Maybe by late spring or early summer. Sorry it’s taken so long.

With a little luck the Wife and I and maybe our two sons can make that show. So I'll be keeping watch for ticket info.

Randle and Jaynie, just saw the posting on Facebook . . that is great news about the first ever Beyond Reach show in March - and you mentioned lots of new songs . . wow!, does this mean there could be some hope for a new Beyond Reach CD as well sometime soon? That would be brilliant! . . 'specially for us 'far flung' fans
